Another Day

Wednesday, April 19th, 2006 No comments

Another relaxing afternoon. I’ve spent a little time working with Google SiteMaps, so hopefully Google will be able to crawl the site more easily.

I’ve been watching the first season of Six Feet Under. It’s morbid, but fascinating.

WoW is just as fun as I remember it. Maybe I can get in an extended session within the next few days.

And the Loser Is…

I really like World of Warcraft, but I’m not sure I’ll be able to resist the urge to play Dungeons & Dragons Online. Maybe one game will win out over the other if I try both. I have too much free time on my hands right now.

And The Winner Is…

World of Warcraft has won for the time being. I have a character on Frostwolf and another on Detheroc. The one on Frostwolf will probably be my main. You get three guesses on his name, but you’ll probably only need one. He’s a human paladin. The one on Detheroc is a Night Elf Druid and might be deleted if I don’t like him.

I haven’t done anything with either character yet, but tonight after 24 that will change.

World of Warcraft or Dungeons and Dragons Online

Thursday, April 13th, 2006 No comments

My dilemma right now is whether or not I should play World of Warcraft or Dungeons and Dragons Online. If I don’t decide on something soon, I may play neither and put off MMORPG’s for a little longer.

I’ve played World or Warcraft before. Unfortunately, it came around the same time as Everquest II, so I didn’t get to play WoW much. I did have fun when I got to play. I really like Blizzard games. The game performed well on my system. I liked being able to work alone at times. I liked the fact that you could get in a quick session and feel like you’ve accomplished something in that time. The look of the game wasn’t my favorite, but it worked. I only know of one person for certain who is still playing the game, so I would have to play mostly with strangers, which isn’t really a big deal. I still have my copy of the game, so I wouldn’t have to buy another one.

I don’t know whole lot about Dungeons and Dragons Online. My computer is starting to get close to the low end, so it may not handle this game as well as WoW. From what I’ve heard it’s hard to make progress if you go solo. Fortunately, there will probably be a lot new people near the same level as me since it is a fairly new game. I think some of my friends are playing the game right now, so that would be a plus. I don’t own a copy, so I would have to buy one.

It’s been about a year since I’ve played an MMORPG. Hopefully I’ll be back in the mix soon.

Possibly Too Much Gaming

Wednesday, March 22nd, 2006 No comments

Lately almost all of my gaming time has been devoted to a game called Tales of Symphonia for the Gamecube. It’s a highly addictive RPG that came out a couple of years ago, but I had never heard of it until late last year. Yes, the plot is a little involved, but the battle system is great and the audio and graphics are good too. My roommate and I beat it in about 72 hours and are currently going through the game a second time.

I re-rented Indigo Prophecy. This fulfilled a prophecy that I made in a previous entry. I like this game a lot more now that I’ve had a chance to really get into it. You get to play from the perspective a someone who has committed a crime and the detectives investigating the crime. Fun.

I also rented Buffy the Vampire Slayer for the Xbox and played it a little. Back when Pacman got this game I wasn’t a fan of the show, but now I am so I thought I would give it a try. So far it’s been a really fun game to play. I’m looking forward to spending more time playing it and moving on to the sequel.

Maybe I’ll be trying out DDO – maybe not.

Gaming Again

Saturday, January 14th, 2006 No comments

I’ve been playing this game that a friend of mine owns called Shining Tears. It’s a decent hack ‘n slash RPG. It’s not the best game in the world, but it’s much better when you play it in co-op mode with someone else. We’ve already beaten once and are working on it again in advanced mode. It’s quite a bit harder now.

I still haven’t settle on another MMORPG. World of Warcraft seemed like a great game, but I was trying to play it at the same time as I was playing Everquest II, so WoW got neglected. I downloaded the beta client for Dungeons and Dragons Online last night, and I think I can start playing it on Tuesday. Hopefully it’ll be something I can sink my teeth into.

I rented Indigo Prophecy from Blockbuster. Since when does it cost $8 to rent a game? I got busy and didn’t get to finish it, but it was an interesting game. I may rent it again soon so I can finish it.

Post-Christmas Update

Saturday, January 14th, 2006 No comments

Somehow the following entry from December 28 was deleted. I am reposting it here.

Christmas was ok. It’s just not the same without my sister around. I’ve spent so many hours recently watching DVD’s.
For my birthday and Christmas I got:
• money
• Firefly The Complete Series
• Tales of Symphonia (Gamecube game) and the strategy guide
• Pearl Jam Single Video Theory (DVD)
• Star Trek The Next Generation The Complete Seasons 1-7

Tomorrow I head back to Starkville. I’ve got about a week of freedom left before I have to think about work again. Hopefully, this time next year I won’t be living in Starkville anymore. Time to start pimping my resume out again.

All in all, it’s been a pretty good year. Next year will be better.

Long Overdue Post – Link Crazy

Monday, November 14th, 2005 No comments

The week after I saw Serenity I started watching Firefly and when I finished I was left wanting more. Too bad there are only 14 episodes. I want to watch the whole series over again. I need to buy the box set so I’ll have my own copy. I checked Amazon.com and it looks like Serenity will be out in time for Christmas. That’s pretty good turnaround considering the movie just came out in September. This week I hope to begin watching season 1 of Buffy the Vampire Slayer. I hear that it’s not the best season, but I have to start somewhere. If I like it I may watch Angel.

The new book in the George R.R. Martin series “A Song of Ice and Fire” came out last week. I hear that it’s only about half the story it was originally intended to be. I’m not in any hurry to buy it. I have enough books that I need to read first.

Gas prices are dropping.

It looks like I’m going to have more free time beginning now. I’ll have to find some way to pass the time. You know what they say about idle hands. It’s weird because when I was a student this would probably be the most stressful time of the semester.

I started on Mercenaries for the second time the other night. Maybe I’ll finish it this time. No, I am not getting an Xbox 360 when they first come out. It can wait.

I’m looking forward to the new Harry Potter, King Kong, The Chronicles of Narnia, and something else I can’t think of right now.

If you own a PS2, you might want to look here.

Move Along Everyone

Nothing much to see here. I just thought I’d make an update. One of these days I’m actually going to update this site. I’ll add more content and maybe even change the design a little.

I’m working hard for pennies it seems. Shouldn’t I be able to retire at 26? When I do get a little free time, I like to read a book or watch a DVD or play a video game. Does anyone use Netflix and want to be my friend? I actually started back playing games on my PC recently. You can click on the image below to see what I’ve been working on.

Still in the Black Hole

Wednesday, August 17th, 2005 No comments

I figured I should give an update on my situation. The job hunt has not gone as well as I would have liked. I got lots of nibbles. For a while the phone was ringing off the hook. However, I wasn’t getting any bites. It seemed like all the companies I spoke to didn’t want someone fresh out of college. Or maybe they just didn’t like me.

I hate to have to settle for something but a man’s got to pay the bills. Going home and living off my mother wasn’t an option. My brother-in-law and a former professor had suggested that I look into teaching. I heard about an opening, so I applied for and was offered a part-time position teaching computer science classes at the local community college. A few days later I was offered a position tutoring at the university. All of this happened less than 2 weeks ago. Both of these positions last until December.

Maybe better opportunities will open up later. I just hope I don’t miss anything because I am locked into these jobs until December. They’re pretty much throwing me to the wolves and expecting me to figure out a lot on my own. It’ll be ok though. I start tomorrow.

Life has been ok other than the frustrating job search. Other than searching for a job I haven’t been doing much other than reading (Harry Potter and The Chronicles of Narnia) and watching DVD’s. I beat X-Men Legends a second time and now I’m trying to figure out what game to work on next. I also plan on redoing the assignments I did for the Advanced Computer Graphics class I took last semester.

If gas doesn’t stop going up, I might be riding my bike everywhere from now on.

My cell phone number and primary email address have changed. I’ll get that out information out later.
